Will AI Turn Social Network Into Artificial Network?
Adam Mosseri showed up for his Friday AMA session and answered a question about social network soon turning into artificial network. Check out his response in this post!
Google recently announced Veo 3. Tools like Runway, Heygen, and Eleven Labs already exist. Now, this means there’s no shortage of AI content on social media and it will only exponentially increase as we see these technologies being adopted in mainstream social media.
One such growing trend is AI Influencers. There are plenty of AI influencers that show on your reels and they are so realistically good that it might take a second to spot that they are actual humans.
So, this gives rise to a very logical question: Will AI turn social network into artificial network?

According to Adam Mosseri (Head of Instagram), there’s going to be a notable difference in how social media operates. More partially or entirely AI-created content is going to show up on our feeds, but it doesn’t necessarily take away from all human interaction.
In his words: “We all need to be somewhat skeptical and think about who is saying something, not only what is being said whenever we are trying to veracity of what we’re seeing online.”
So, that basically means, in upcoming times, the value of your core profile might grow. Not just because of what you post, but because of the history attached to it.
Maybe a post from a real profile (with years of history & active engagement) will get better traction over newly formed accounts with limited activity.
My SEO-wired brain can’t stop comparing it to website authority. Even though Google (or any search engine) doesn’t officially recognize website authority as a legible metric, certain websites with years of history and backlinks automatically rank better than newer ones.
Will we see a similar pattern on social media? Will organic growth actually remain organic?
That remains to be seen! Till then, we are all here wondering when our next post will go viral 😉
